gibson-es-175-sunburst-1958
Gibson ES-175 Sunburst 1958

This 1958 Gibson ES-175 is an exceptionally well-preserved example from one of Gibson's most celebrated eras. A single-owner, previously uncirculated instrument, this guitar has remained remarkably clean for nearly seven decades, retaining its original character, beautiful vintage appointments, and highly desirable original PAF humbucker.

Introduced in 1949, the ES-175 became one of Gibson's most iconic jazz guitars, prized for its comfortable full-depth hollowbody construction, warm acoustic response, and articulate amplified tone. By 1958, the introduction of Gibson's legendary PAF humbucker had elevated the model even further. The original PAF in this example delivers the warmth, clarity, and dynamic response that have made these pickups some of the most sought-after in electric guitar history.

One particularly interesting detail is the set of rare Gibson "G" branded tuners. Following Gibson's acquisition of Epiphone in 1957, leftover Epiphone branded tuner stock was repurposed by stamping a line through the original "E" to create a "G." These unusual transitional tuners represent a fascinating detail from a brief period in Gibson's history.

The guitar is in excellent vintage condition, displaying remarkably little wear for its age. There is some playwear along the neck, along with minor fret and fingerboard wear concentrated in the cowboy chord positions, consistent with decades of careful playing. The overall condition is exceptional, particularly considering its single-owner history.

The original Lifton hardshell case is included, further adding to the completeness and historical appeal of this instrument. The final photograph in the listing features the original owner, providing a wonderful personal connection to the guitar's history.

An extraordinary opportunity to acquire a beautifully preserved 1958 ES-175 with its original PAF humbucker, rare transitional hardware, and a remarkable single-owner history.

Specifications

 Brand: Gibson
 Model: ES-175
 Year: 1958
 Condition: Excellent Vintage
 Body Style: Full-Depth Hollowbody Archtop
 Body: Laminated Maple
 Neck: Mahogany
 Neck Construction: Set Neck
 Fingerboard: Rosewood
 Scale Length: 24.75"
 Fingerboard Inlays: Split Parallelogram
 Pickup: Original Gibson PAF Humbucker
 Pickup Configuration: Single Humbucker
 Controls: Volume, Tone
Tuners: Rare Transitional Gibson "G" Branded Tuners
 Bridge: Adjustable Rosewood Archtop Bridge
 Tailpiece: Trapeze Tailpiece
 Made In: Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
 Ownership: Single Owner
 Case: Original Lifton Hardshell Case

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0419/4081/1933/files/DSC_2828_4b88762e-46f6-4bbc-b5a2-04fc5a0a111a.jpg?v=1793055478
